Router Plane
I could have bought a cheap Stanley router plane off the ebay but after reading an article in one of the woodwork magazines I decided that it would be fun to make my own from scratch.
The body is made from a nice straigh piece of oak from my good friend Paul. It was quite difficult to find the right size piece for holding the blade securely. I finally found some eye bolts from Screwfix that were big enought for the job with the required M8 thread. The blade is made from a 12mm Allen/Hex key that I ground to shape on my bench grinder. The knob is one of a box of 40 that I got from ebay.
A test dado cut using a saw, then chiselled to rough depth and finally leveled using the router plane. This is now one of my favorite tools and is great fun to use.
